#1 - 2009 Domaine du Salvard Cheverny Sauvignon Blanc (
A
hypnotizing nose with stone fruits, apple peel and citrus along with elegant
notes of minerality and natural spice; follows through on the palate with
citrus fruit and a bracing acidity. A classically French
Sauvignon Blanc to be contrasted with the more full-force
#2 - 2009 Nautilus Sauvignon Blanc (
One of the best Sauv Blancs from NZ. Intensely pungent with aromas of gooseberry, grapefruit, white peach, freshly mown grass (living, green grass—not the dry dead grass of Autumn), Granny Smith apples---all of it backed by a piercing acidity.
#3 - 2007 Charles Krug Chardonnay (
The cooler climate in Carneros provides this wine with a fantastic fruit profile. A restrained use of oak allows the subtle characteristics of the Chardonnay grape to really shine through.

Puligny-Montrachet (
This is a classic Puligny-Montrachet with a hint of muskiness and abundant peach and honeysuckle aromas; the full, rich mouth-coating texture is dissolved by a crisp acidity on the finish.

#1 - 2004 Nicholas Cole Cellars Camille
(
This is a classy,
understated blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The fruit is noticeable, but a little bit of
age has helped it fall to the background beneath a layer of smoke, leather, and
a touch of herbs.
#2 - 2008 Twenty Rows Cabernet (
The
’08 Twenty Rows is on the darker end of the Napa Cab spectrum: think of roasted coffee beans and unsweetened
cocoa; however, there is plenty of rich dark fruit to balance this wine out,
with a hint of vanilla bean on the finish.
#3 - 2006 Viña von Siebenthal Carmenere (
Carmenere is one of my
favorite grapes and this is an outstanding example of

#4 - 2008 Herman Story On the Road Grenache (Paso Robles,
